First three idea of artwork that can communication with artpiece, audience and artist

Uni-direction communication?

To create an art work that can reactive audience behavior is a simple purpose, the difficult thing is how to make it interesting?

First at all, I consider a very uncomplicated concept, use the audience's route to display the reaction, I build a spiral staircase and hanging many bulbs around it and set sensor in each stair step, when people walk through the stair, a part of bulbs will turn off.

When people keep walking, the light will keep change to effect the route and display a dynamic art piece.

But after few discussion, I realize this form may be so simple and will not cause audience's interesting, so I launch a different idea that use sound to be the agency.

American avant-garde artist, composer and musician La Monte Thornton Young (born October 14, 1935), was used ''Dream Chord'' prominently in the works. The chord is made up of the pitches G-C-C sharp-D.

I tried to convey the idea of audience participation through display the basic dream chord,  used cybernetic theory to build a model that can reflect audience feedback and  modify the reaction itself.

An sets up situation with two main different elements, a control part and an active part, this means we can make sure the art work is on the route that we imaged and also keep some unfixed part for the audience to operate.

When audience input any note to system, system will according what audience input to feedback a dream chord and audience receive the chord, and input again. The entire cycle try to create a environment to depict the communicate between artwork audience and artist.

Turn voice

This step, I tried to make whole device much easy to understand and operation, I make three tract and four different type bras strip to make noise, each brass strip with different height to make different sound, three tract means it can make three different sound at same time.

Simultaneously, according these different height bras strip we can also make these noise visible,  when audience operate the artwork he/she also create the sound graphic to finally complete the entire artwork with graphic and sound.
