This project ask us to think about 'Linking'.

Linking different people and culture is a difficult topic, we have to thinking what cause those problem and make them visible, first we tried to use 'language' to be our topic, we wanna raise that different language should not stop people connect each other.

But we can't figure out what kind of form can display what we wanna convey, so we tried to launch another idea. The idea talking about inside and outside of people.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela said that the road we have walked has been built by the contribution of all of us; the tools we have used on the road have been fashioned by all of us; the future we face is that of all of us (UN). Our proposal argues that the functions of art can break the barriers of geographical and cultural differences. We made an interactive installation to underpin the concept of equality and diversity. The title of the proposal is ‘Project 7.2’ which represents the current number of people living on Earth – 2010 (UN).

The interactive installation symbolizes the seven continents (see the diagram above). The installation aims to raise the awareness of some of the global issues the contemporary society faces, such as racial discrimination, pollution, political conflicts, ethnic cleansing forcing people to migrate. In addition, the project emphasizes similarities among people rather than differences. The interactive installation provides opportunities to unite people regardless of their origin, race, languages, values, sexuality or economic status, and it invites people to refuse to be changed by society. We believe that original people is pure and undifferentiated, people be classification by educated, culture and political. But all of those conflicts in the world are due to these differences between ethnics and nations if people can realize what common we are, maybe people have more opportunities to face the global issues we have.

We were inspired by the seven continents and the section of egg and designed an interactive installation, which has a round-shaped structure. Moreover, we rearranged and separated to make space and path to the core. This process of entering also tries to convey the message about how difficult to discover other people’s essence. The inside structure was also separated
into two spaces for two viewers by dark glass walls. When a person stands in front of the wall, he/she can only see himself/herself on the surface. If the other person stands the opposite side, the light hidden into the wall will turn on, as a result, two viewers can see each figures through the wall changed transparency.

Group work is not easy, it also can see how different people connect by different way, even thought not every thing go smoothly, but finally we all tried our best to convey the message we depict, when we finished present and the idea be identity by other people, it looks worthy.
